Art College Fashion Report: Week Three

This is actually last week's report. I've been meaning to type it up for ages, but life has gotten on top of me in a major way. All I ever seem to do is sleep, study, sit on the train, go to College, study some more, and sleep again. I haven't got used to having a timetable for 2/3 days a week and work to do all the other times. I miss blogging. Anyway, the advantage of all that time spent studying is that I am increasingly driven to break the boredom and look out constantly for something to brighten up my day. And so I come to see the stylish delights of which I will write...

The Good

She wore black skinny jeans and black shoes. Her shirt was black, her mascara was black, but her lipstick was red and her hair was big, fluffy and blonde. She also wore what looked like a racing-car-driver's jacket. It was a really unusual thing to see being worn by someone just hanging outside of university, on an ordinary day, and the rest of the outfit was really effective because it complemented it without detracting from it.

The Bad

I realised that the Indie Army have begun to abandon Topshop en masse. Urban Outfitters is now the store of choice, which I feel leads to even more style homogenisation! Especially on the part of the men, I have been seeing one or two particular t-shirts that I know are from UO do the rounds! I do have to admit that I think the clothes at UO are really cute, whereas I generally detest most items from Topshop, but I would never shop there myself because they have evil tendancies, and I can find equally or more lovely handmade clothes and accessories from indie designers for similar prices.

The Faaaabulous

I have begun regularly seeing extremely glamourous, beautiful, curvy women all over university. They all share four characteristics:

1. Shampoo-ad-esque hair, blow-dried to perfection, but with enough movement that it behaves naturally in the wind.

2. Vintage-style make-up.

3. Amazingly cute jackets.

4. An expression and speed of movement that suggests they have Somewhere Important To Be but are Mildly Amused by whatever enironment they are passing through/me.

The latter is something I have been trying to master for ages. It is the epitome of the poised, confident persona that I wish I had. Unfortunately my attempts at elegance are usually foiled by a) too many bags - I don't travel light, b) my feet - so large I can't avoid tripping over them, and c) rubbing my eyes and transferring all my precisely applied eyeliner onto the top of my cheek. Fantastic.
